Meet Kay…

Professional Photographer Kay Bumguardner specializes in Agricultural and Scenic photography with a style and knowledge acquired only through generations of ranching. Kay won the extremely prestigious and competitive Quarter Horse Journal Cover Photo Contest, against over 500 entries, and sold them several more cover shots. Kay worked for Walt Brownary as the official photographer at the National Western Stock Show & Rodeo in Denver, as well as the Canadian Agribition Stock Show.

Kay has done photography work for Record Stockman, Colorado Cowboy, Record Horseman, American Profile, Chiania Journal and numerous sale catalogs. Kay's ranch is on Piceance Creek near Meeker, Colorado. She raises Maine-Anjou cross cattle with Chiania influence used for beef production. She has also sold several Grand Champion Club Calves.

  "Besting more than 500 entries submitted in the Quarter Horse Photo Contest was a photo taken by Kay Bumguardner of New Castle, Colorado. Kay's photo claimed the overall grand prize worth $1,500. In addition, two of her photos garnered $25 each, placing fourth and eighth in the human interest category; and she took 13th in the action category for $15. Kay also had seven photos which received honorable mention."
